Situated in the most south westerly part of the UK, Cornwall is one of the most sought after tourist destinations in the country and is not short of things to do. Off all the beaches that Cornwall possesses, Fistral in Newquay is world renowned, but Cornwall has far more to offer than just Fistral. Cornwall’s location, jutting out to the Atlantic, makes it a magnet for swell and whilst one of the biggest Pro surfing competitions in the world is hosted at Fistral lets not forget some others.Starting in the North, there is Bedruthen Steps, a large sandy beach with superb scenery. Boobsy Bay offers a wide sandy beach and is popular for surfers. Bude offers a popular beach with free tidal swimming pool and Chapel Porth is always a popular one for families.In the South East there is Looe beach which is extremely popular with families and Whitsand Beach which is probably the most popular beach of all in the South West. If you want to go for somewhere more secluded there are beaches such as Polperro and Lansallos.Mid Cornwall has a plethora of beaches, choose from small coved beaches in little fishing towns to large, wide beaches stretching miles. Some to bear in mind: Swanpool, just on the outskirts of Falmouth, a lovely sandy cove, Carne Beach, a huge sandy beach and Par sands, ever popular with families.Within the Lizard region, the small peninsula in the West of Cornwall, there is Church Cove, Cadgwith, Gunwalloe and many more, all of which offer fantastic coastal scenery.West Cornwall, the most remote part and furthest down, has some magnificent beaches from miles of sandy beaches like Mounts Bay to private, secluded little coves such as Lamorna. Sennen Cove offers fantastic opportunities for surfers.
